EXECUTIVE TEAM
Edmond A. Heinbockel, President/CEO/Founder – Mr. Heinbockel is a software industry veteran with over twenty-two years of experience. His tenure includes serving as CFO/Controller for Sierra On-Line prior to, during, and after its IPO, having founded and managed Tsunami Media for nearly a decade (until selling it in 1999), and having led Visual Purple since its inception in 1998. His leadership has garnered software industry awards, including being recognized for producing the first ever entertainment DVD-ROM (1996), and as one of Newsweek Magazine’s top 100 innovators for the new century (1997). More recently, Mr. Heinbockel directed and produced the Chief Learning Officer Magazine Silver Award-winning DirecTV Customer Service Series of Training Simulations (2006). Mr. Heinbockel has extensive film and 3D production and software development experience producing numerous entertainment and training titles. Mr. Heinbockel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University.
John W. Jarrett, Vice President Project Operations/Implementation – Mr. Jarrett brings a diverse educational and training background to product development. Holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and a Master of Divinity in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, he has worked in software development since 1991 as a designer, writer and project manager. Mr. Jarrett is responsible for bringing over a dozen entertainment software titles to market including Free Enterprise and Silent Steel, an interactive strategy game that sold over four million copies worldwide. During his tenure at Visual Purple, Mr. Jarrett has also been instrumental in producing over twenty high-level training simulations.
David G. Harlow, Vice President & General Counsel – Mr. Harlow, a CPA, MBA, and attorney, has extensive experience as a manager of multiple functions with evolving and complex business organizations. He has directed and participated in multi-national tax planning and negotiations in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Norway and the United States. For the last decade Mr. Harlow has been a sole practitioner representing individual and multiple clients in various transactions and disputes, including formal and informal negotiations, mediation, arbitration and litigation. Other positions held by Mr. Harlow have included: Tax Director, McCormick and Company, Inc.; Tax Director, Great Lakes Chemical Corporation; Vice President & General Counsel, QO Chemicals, Inc.; Associate, Sonnenschein, Carlin, Nath & Rosenthal. Mr. Harlow holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a JD in law from Brigham Young University and a Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern University.
TECHNICAL TEAM
David L. Ostby, Vice President/Chief Technology Officer – Mr. Ostby is a prolific software systems designer and inventor and is the creator of Visual Purple’s core simulation software engine and modeling technology. He is an inventor of U.S. Patent (#5,326,270), a system and method for assessing an individual's task-processing style. Mr. Ostby architected key enabling technologies including Interactive Intelligence (in use in the Intelligence Community and at the Army Research Institute) and Visual Purple’s proprietary high-level FloCharter technology which allows non-programmers to rapidly construct complex titles.
James E. Spellman II, Vice President Applied Technology Systems – Mr. Spellman has been a software developer since 1986 and specializes in interface design, 2D/3D graphics, and artificial intelligence systems. Mr. Spellman has extensive experience in developing both stand-alone and multi-player entertainment titles during his tenure at Tsunami Media and Sierra On-Line. He has provided internal technical/programming support for nineteen high-level training simulations and actively identified and produced a suite of constantly evolving production tools. Commencing in 2005, Mr. Spellman successfully led the technical charge to transition Visual Purple to a 3D simulation company from a video-based company.
Chuck Hunter, Project Manager – Mr. Hunter is an accomplished project manager with over ten years of experience planning, designing, producing, implementing, and delivering blended training. He has worked with a broad range of soft skill training technologies as well as enterprise technologies. Mr. Hunter has implemented and managed virtual learning content and environments and is an expert in Distributed Learning and Instructional Design. Mr. Hunter has consulted in virtual learning program design and implementation and has managed the associated organizational change processes. Chuck holds a Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Accounting from Towson University.
Marcus Cannon, Project Manager – Mr. Cannon is a leader of our project operations efforts and a Project Manager for special projects. He contributes to the efforts of our Research, Creative Content, and Engineering Labs, as well as being a resource for the Application Production Teams. Mr. Cannon assists in training design and development, particularly for 3D animation production. He is involved in project management, product design, copywriting and editing, public relations, and marketing. He has contributed to high-end training simulations for both corporate and government clients including the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, as well as major pharmaceutical and telecommunications companies. Mr. Cannon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Southern California.
MARKETING TEAM
Jim Black, Marketing and Business Development – Mr. Black brings more than seventeen years of interactive software business experience to Visual Purple. In the early 90's, working for a small interactive developer in Los Angeles, Black developed and delivered many multimedia titles on various CD-ROM platforms for industry leading publishing companies. From that experience, he went on to train others in digital media production techniques before focusing on large corporate web site development with Genex. For the past several years Mr. Black has changed his focus to working closely with Visual Purple clients to assess their needs and apply the best Visual Purple has to offer to solve their training challenges. Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Syracuse.
Thomas Sizemore, Business Development – Project Management and Strategy Planning – Mr. Sizemore has more than forty years of experience supporting the needs of the Department of Defense. His twenty-three years of service, as both an officer and an enlisted member of the Marine Corps provides him a wealth of knowledge. As a combat veteran, his assignments included instructing those who served in the Army as well as the Air Force. Thus, Mr. Sizemore brings a thorough grounding in training theory, methods, and overcoming challenges as a foundation to support Visual Purple through performance of client training needs analysis and planning. Additionally, Mr. Sizemore has headed complex, multi-disciplined research and development programs for the DoD, both as a Marine Corps officer and as a Vice President at Battelle, where he worked for thirteen years. He is a recognized expert on Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Warfare and has been involved in writing defense and weapons employment doctrine for all four services as well as representing the Navy on the NBC Defense panel in NATO. As the owner of Global Technology Applications, Ltd, founded in 1999, he continues to assist a number of companies and foreign governments in strategic planning with an emphasis on technology investment and staff development. |
